Software Update: OpenTTD 1.0.1

The developers behind OpenTTD have released the final release of version 1.0.1. In this open source clone of the Microprose game Transport Tycoon Deluxe, the goal is to build a transport empire by road, rail, water and air. OpenTTD can do more than just mimic the original game. For example, up to 64 times larger maps can be used than in the original, the AI ​​is worthy of its name and there is support for multiplayer and IPv6. Versions for Windows and Linux are available. The development of the Mac OS X version is behind schedule because there are not enough developers available to be. Version 1.01 fixes several bugs and security vulnerabilities found since the release of version 1.00. Since the second release candidate from a week and a half ago, these three problems have been fixed:

  • Crash when using restart via rcon (r19722)
  • Leaking a file descriptor [CVE-2010-0406] [FS#3785] (r19695)
  • Crash when the music/graphics metadata files were unreadable [FS#3774] (r19674)
