OpenOffice.org is an open source office suite that runs on many platforms. The package consists of various programs, including for processing text, making presentations, designing databases and preparing spreadsheets. Furthermore, the package includes a formula comparator and a vector drawing program. The developers released the first release candidate of version 3.1.1 a few days ago; For an overview of the changes made, we refer you to this page. The announcement on the mailing list looks like this:
it’s time for a next milestone in the development of OpenOffice.org. To fulfill this goal I’ve uploaded OpenOffice.org 3.1.1 Release Candidate 1 (build OOO310_m18) to FTP master. The version will install as OpenOffice.org 3.1.1.
All files except Windows have been uploaded to extended mirrors listed at http://distribution.openoffice.org/mirrors#mirrors (extended mirrors are marked with “E”). Windows builds are not ready yet and will be uploaded later.
Attention: This is just a message to inform you about the upload of the binaries to the mirror network. The files need to distribute first and they are available *earliest* in approximately 24-48 hours. Please don’t download them before.
