Software update: OpenELEC 4.0.1

Spread the love

The first update of version 4.0 of the Open Embedded Linux Entertainment Center has been released. This Linux distribution is based on XBMC Media Center and can turn a computer into a full-fledged HTPC. OpenELEC is easy to install, maintain and use, as well as being small and lightning fast. In version 4.0, which is based on XBMC version 13, fewer different versions are offered. Images are available for AppleTV, Raspberry Pi, and a generic build for i386 and x86_64 environments. The specific builds for AMD’s Fusion and Nvidia’s ION platform, among others, have disappeared. Version 4.0.1 is based on XBMC Media Center 13.1 beta 1 and contains several bug fixes.

OpenELEC 4.0.1 released

This release includes some bug fixes, security fixes and improvements since OpenELEC-4.0.0 . Besides the usual bugfixes and package updates we updated XBMC with the last fixes to XBMC 13.1 beta1 which contains a lot of fixes for issues found after the XBMC-13.0 release (some of them we already shipped with OpenELEC-4.0.0). We included fixes for reported issues like crashing or freeze issues on RaspberryPi and non working calibration setup on RaspberryPi.

OpenELEC-4.0.1 is now the next stable release, which is a bugfix and securityfix release of the OpenELEC-4.0 series.
