Software Update: Norton Power Eraser 4.0.0.57

Symantec has released version 4.0.0.57 of Norton Power Eraser to tackle the difficult-to-remove rogue software: programs that pretend to be anti-virus or anti-spyware programs, but actually infect the PC. Power Eraser is intended to remove infections when even a good antivirus program and firewall could not provide enough protection.

The package should be used as a last resort, according to Symantec, as it aggressively attacks rogue software and can accidentally quarantine a legitimate program. By running the program again and looking in the history, files that should not have been deleted can still be recovered. A comprehensive explanation of what this program does here are being found.
