Software Update: NOD32 Antivirus / Smart Security 8.0.304

ESET has version 8.0 of NOD32 Antivirus and Smart Security released. Where the first only protects against viruses, spyware and rootkits, the second program also has a firewall and spam filter. A license NOD32 Antivirus costs 29.50 euros, while Smart Security costs 41 euros. However, if a license is purchased for several years or several computers, the price per piece drops considerably. ESET Smart Security version 8 has many minor improvements:

• Device Manager: Replacing Removable Media in versions 5 and 6. This module allows you to scan, block, adjust filters/permissions and select how the user is allowed to interact with and access a particular device.
• Vulnerability Shield: An extension of the firewall that improves the detection of known network-level vulnerabilities.
• Advanced Memory Scanner: Works in conjunction with Exploit Blocker to provide enhanced protection against malware designed to evade detection through cloaking and/or encryption.
• Improved firewall: In the new version of ESET Smart Security, you can customize and manage IDS exceptions and the blacklist of temporarily blocked IP addresses. The notification system for IDS detection is now more user-friendly and informative.
• Improved anti-phishing: ESET Smart Security now blocks fraudulent and phishing sites. Improved ability to report suspicious sites and false positives.
• Specialized Cleaner: It fights the top 3 to 5 in malware. Faster and more reliable installation: including an initial scan within 20 minutes of installation on reboot.
• Plugin compatibility with email: Our plugin now integrates with Office 2013 and Windows Live Mail.
• Improved compatibility with Windows 8/8.1: ESET SysRescue is now fully functional in Windows 8. Windows 8 now displays pop-up notifications on HIPS detections or file detections that require your input and on downloads of potentially unwanted applications.
