Software update: nLite 1.4.9.2

Spread the love

After an absence of five years, Dino Nuhagic has picked up nLite again and version 1.4.9.2 has been released. This program can create a custom-built Windows 2000, XP, or 2003 installation CD. This allows nLite to remove unused components and add hotfixes, updates, and drivers. In addition, it is possible to make a lot of settings, apply tweaks and answer questions that arise during installation, such as the registration key, user accounts and network settings. In this way, the installation time can be shortened and Windows runs just that little bit smoother in most cases.

nLite 1.4.9.2

Well, there goes another 5 years. I have finally decided to return to the project, and will be actively supporting it from now on. If you have contacted me over the years about a language translation update, an updated link to an nLite guide, or similar, please do so again so I can follow up. Enjoy and feel free to contact me or post at the forums if there is something important to fix or add. Thank you for your support.

This first batch of updates is mainly maintenance. Another thing to add is that direct hotfixing of WMP and ASMS hotfixes is disabled due to safety concerns until a better method is developed for those special cases.

Updated:

  • Deeper file version inspection during integration comparison
  • Direct integration support for many more hotfixes, mainly XP (including x64)
  • ‘entries.ini’ as a single-file update pack support

Fixed:

  • Internet Explorer 8 direct integration (including x64)
  • ‘entries’ in an update pack path was not allowed
