fenrir redirects us to the NewsLeecher homepage, where a new version of the software can be downloaded. This time beta 29 of the 1.00 branch has been released. The update is via this server to bring in. NewsLeecher is a program to read messages from newsgroups via Usenet and to download binaries. The developers took a good look at programs like NewsBinPro, NewsPro, BNR, and GrabIt, then took the best points as the basis for NewsLeecher. The result is a program that can download from multiple servers at the same time, has support for the new yEnc coding and can handle up to 99 theads simultaneously. Implemented Socks Firewall Support.

Implemented support for case sensitive server searching.

Implemented support for article ranged server searching.

Added ‘Hide Non-Binaries’ article filter for the Active Group View.

Changed rename conversion for downloaded duplicates to make it more compatible with QuickPar. Old: “Copy of Filename.ext, Copy of (2) Filnename.ext”. New: “Filename.1.ext, Filename.2.ext”.

Lots of internal security enhancements.

Fixed ‘Set Download Counter’ bug where input number was reset if it was too high.

Fixed bug (introduced in b27) where NewsLeecher couldn’t update the first group in the group subscription list.

NewsLeecher would sometimes download ‘server search’ result articles to a group called “unknown group”. Fixed!

Many smaller fixes.
