Software update: NewsLeecher 1.0 beta 23

Spread the love

NewsLeecher is a program to read news and download files via usenet. The developers took a good look at programs like NewsBinPro, NewsPro, BNR, and GrabIt, then took the best points as the basis for NewsLeecher. The result is a program that can download from multiple servers at the same time, has support for the new yEnc coding, and can handle up to 99 theads simultaneously. Version 1.0 beta 23 has just been released and has the following changes:

Changes in 1.0 Beta 23:

  • Added option for NewsLeecher to write more detailed download info to the log.
  • Added new option to the ‘When Empty’ transfer-queue action list. The new option allows one to run a custom command-line.
  • Made the ‘Send Group Command before Download’ option server specific instead of global.
  • Many small improvements. (Compress groupnames also works on the server-search page, etc)
  • ResetHangingConnection feature will now wait until half an hour of inactivity before resetting a group-update in progress.
  • Restructured the server setup dialog and the options dialog a bit.
  • A couple of other small improvements.
  • Fixed bug that sometimes caused the last part of the last article in the transfer-queue to corrupt. This caused the entire file to be corrupt when downloaded.
  • Fixed bug (ID: lkm2kk11(2)) caused by manually adding a group, with an invalid name, to the group-list.
  • Fixed bug (ID:jajs, and others) which showed up if the property dialog was shown for a transferred article which wasn’t in the download-queue anymore.
  • Fixed bug (ID:09ji0ms) caused by saving downloaded articles with file or foldernames longer than the max path length used by Windows.
  • NewsLeecher didn’t check if user had specified a posting username and a posting email before sending a usenet post.
  • As usual, many small fixes.
