Software Update: Newsbin Pro 6.80 Release Candidate 2 Build 5029

The second release candidate of NewsBin Pro 6.80 has been released. With this program files, such as photos, videos and programs, can be retrieved from usenet. It has everything you would expect from a usenet downloader, such as support for multithreading, ssl and autopar. There are also extensive filter options and an optional Usenet search service can be used. In version 6.80, among other things, the download engine has been further improved. The changelog for the last few versions looks like this:

• Fixed issue running on 32 bit machines.
• The remote NZB interface is now single threaded. Still supports multiple clients but they get processed in sequence instead of in parallel. Addresses potential reliability issues.
• Fixed issue where some tabs would not stay open between runs such as Servers and Thumbnails.
• Fixed a potential thread exit which can be triggered by some specific errors.
• Fixed issue where header downloads on empty groups would leave the download in the download list sometimes.
• Fixed issue where download errors could force the assembler thread to exit.
• Made some changes to address error reports possibly tripping for an unrelated error event.

Version 6.80 Release Candidate 1 Build 5005

• Fixed issue where downloading a sample isn’t putting “Sample” on the filename if there is an unrar failure.
• Fixed issue where sampling deleted the rars and output files.
• Fixed issue where compacted NZB’s don’t always sort the PARS to the bottom of the list. Would cause slow repair and unrar.
• Changed flag for “force group selection” under Options -> Servers -> Really Advanced because of reports it is stuck on.
• Fixed issue when Newsbin selects a group and the group does not exist, the download would not work. Only was an issue if “Force Group Selection” is enabled.

Version 6.80 Beta 13 Build 5004 Dec 9

• Fixed issue with encrypted files not unraring.
• Fixed issue where the last file in a zip file containing multiple files was unzipping.
• Added “Nzbs” folder to data folder purge cycle.
• Added recursive folder removal to data folder purge cycle.
• Added new compaction logic to better handle obfuscated post sets in NZB files.
• Fixed issue with loaded NZB files not getting purged

Known Issues:

• Some file size info returned by search is wrong until expanded. Issue on the Search Database side.
• Cosmetic problem in header based watches. Doesn’t show or know the correct group in the post list.
