Software Update: NewsBin Pro 6.31 build 1835 RC 1

A new beta release of NewsBin Pro has come out. NewsBin Pro is intended to retrieve files, such as photos, movies and programs, from usenet. These files can be downloaded in individual packets from one or more news servers and reassembled at the receiving end. Since version 6.00, the interface uses tabs and there is a cache-to-memory option that, if a machine has enough memory, reduces constant access to the hard drive. Below are the release notes for this release.

Version 6.30 Release Candidate 1 Build 1835

• Fixed issue with retries for people who have AutoPAR disabled.
• Removed mechanism that automatically disabled XFeatures option if the server reports it does not support the command.

Issues:

• Drag and Drop to order the Groups list in the Groups tab is not hooked up, nor can you column sort the groups.
• There have been reports that Newsbin isn’t saving the correctly renamed files to descript.ion file.
• Newsbin renames the file on disk and then lands the file. Without re-writing the description.ion, there’s no way to fix this.
• Decreasing number of server connections requires a restart.
• Works on Windows XP and newer.
• Crosspost filters in the Add Groups dialog are not hooked up.
• SMTP Authentication for email notification is not hooked up.
