Software Update: Netgear R7800 Nighthawk X4S

Netgear released new firmware for its R7800 Nighthawk X4S Router a few days ago. This router, also referred to as R7800, can send and receive data on both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, and has a theoretical throughput of no less than 2600 Mbit/s. In addition, there are five gigabit Ethernet ports, one of which is on the wan side and the other four can be used internally, and there are two USB 2.0, two USB 3.0 and an esata connection. The version number of this firmware release is fixed at and the changes look like this:

New Features and Enhancements:

  • Removed the “Enable Video Network” option on wireless page of the GUI.

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed the issue where the GUI can only accept a maximum of seven keywords to block HTTP sites.
  • Fixed the issue where a folder in a USB storage device can’t be renamed.
  • Fixed security issues.
  • Fixed other bugs.
