Software Update: MP3Gain 0.9.8

Spread the love

MP3Gain has arrived at version 0.9.8, it is not recommended to upgrade yet if you are not experiencing any problems due to the fact that a new bug has crept in. However, this will be resolved soon, so we will already mention this new version in the junk tracker. The program is described as follows:

MP3Gain analyzes and adjusts mp3 files so that they have the same volume. MP3Gain does not just do peak normalization, as many normalizers do. Instead, it does some statistical analysis to determine how loud the file actually sounds to the human ear. Also, the changes MP3Gain makes are completely lossless. There is no quality lost in the change because the program adjusts the mp3 file directly, without decoding and re-encoding.[break]The following information can be found in the release notes:[/break]Version 0.9.8 Beta available. No new features, but I fixed some code that was causing problems with DBCS file names (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, etc.) Use version 0.9.7 unless you specifically have a problem with DBCS file names. It looks like I screwed something up for Windows 9x (including WinME) users. I’ll work on fixing that bug. In the meantime, I’ll leave the 0.9.7 Beta links working below.
