MariaDB originated as a fork of MySQL, after it was taken over by Oracle in 2009-2010. MariaDB is a powerful open source database server, which is especially popular as a website and forum database. The developers have released versions 10.4.11, 10.3.21 and 10.2.30. The first stable from the 10.4.x branch is from June 2019, the first stable from the 10.3.x branch is from May 2018 and the first stable from the 10.2.x branch is from May 2017. MariaDB 10.4.11 Release Notes

MariaDB 10.4 is the current stable series of MariaDB. It is an evolution of MariaDB 10.3 with several entirely new features not found anywhere else and with backported and reimplemented features from MySQL.
