Software Update: Malwarebytes – 1.0.851

Malwarebytes has released an update to its anti-virus program of the same name. This program is aimed at fighting malware, such as malicious software that pretends to be a bona fide antivirus or antispyware solution, but in reality has less good intentions, such as ransom- or scareware. In addition to the free version, there is a paid variant, which offers additional functionality, including real-time protection.

In addition to a new look, version 4.0 includes an improved detection engine. That was necessary too, because Malwarebytes 3 scored not too good more in the tests. Also, the performance of the program and the speed of the scan have been improved and only Windows 7, 8.1 and 10 are supported. Version 4.1 also adds a dark mode, and improved detection and performance. Finally, this update also brings the following improvements:

what’s new:

  • Improved UI for certain notifications to show full paths and other detail on hover over
  • New “Select Background” Display Option
  • Detection and remediation improvements

Some Issues now addressed:

  • Fixed: Upgrade to Premium Shopping Cart appearing blank under certain circumstances
  • Fixed: Instability related to ELAM drivers under specific circumstances
