Software Update: Malwarebytes 3.6.1.2711

Spread the love

Version 3.6.1 of Malwarebytes has been released recently. This program is aimed at fighting malware, such as malicious software that pretends to be a bona fide antivirus or antispyware solution, but in reality has less good intentions, such as ransom– or scareware† In addition to the free version, there is a paid variant, which offers additional functionality, including real-time protection.

Since version 3.0, the Anti-Exploit and Anti-Ransomware tools have been integrated, which were previously offered as separate programs. The manufacturer therefore believes that the product can now also be used as a replacement for traditional antivirus software, where it previously recommended to use it alongside. This only applies to the paid version, the free version only functions as an on-demand scanner. The following changes and improvements have been made in this release:

Performance/protective capability

  • Improved detection and remediation

usability

  • Removed default monthly Scheduled Scan in Free mode
  • Updated the installer to allow installation to standalone Business mode when certain conditions are met

Stability/issues fixed

  • Fixed BSOD involving farflt.sys
  • Fixed issue with exclusion involving short filenames
  • Addressed other miscellaneous defects
