Software Update: LAV Filters 0.59

Spread the love

Version 0.59 of the LAV Filters has been released. The LAV Filters are a collection of open source DirectShow filters that allow playback of the most common formats of audio and video in a media player of your choice. It is similar to the FFDShow filters, which seem to be losing popularity lately. For example, the K-Lite Codec Pack still offers the choice between the FFDShow and LAV Filters, while the Combined Community Codec Pack only offers the LAV Filters. In version 0.59 the following changes and improvements have been made:

LAV Splitter

  • Support for demuxing H.265/HEVC and VP9
  • Improvements for H.264 in AVI or as raw video streams
  • Improved stream detection in files which start with a few seconds audio before the video
  • Improved timestamp handling when demuxing seamless branching Blu-rays, fixes a few hicups/freezes mid-stream

LAV Videos

  • Support for decoding H.265/HEVC and VP9
  • Accept H.264 from the MainConcept demuxer
  • Added support for DV Video from Canopus cameras

LAV Audio

  • Fixed playback issues on a few DTS and DTS-HD tracks
