For storing music, different formats are used to compress the file. Popular formats include mp3, ogg vorbis and Monkey’s Audio each with its pros and cons. JMAC is a Java written encoder and decoder for Monkey’s Audio that conforms to the JavaSound API Specifications. The development team recently released version 1.65 with the following statement:
Bug with compressing/decompressing of 24-bit audio fixed. There are several other minor bug fixes.
