With iBackup you can make a backup of files, folders and applications under Mac OS X. It is also possible to include system preferences, such as time, dock, firewall, bluetooth, iChat and iTunes settings, in the backup. The backup created can be restored to the system at any time. The developers have released version 6.5 to the world and provided the following list of changes:

Version 6.5:

  • improvement: option to set ‘rsync for every backup’ as backup UNIX command
  • improvement: option to move deleted items to trash or to delete them immediately
  • improvement: lower CPU usage
  • bug fixed: show correct time in progress bar
  • bug fixed: adding new profiles
  • bug fixed: minor bug fixes

Version 6.4.1:

  • bug fixed: When a Profile in iBackup’s Preferences is selected and its settings where changed, they where changed for the selected profile accordingly

Version 6.4:

  • improvement: if a folder of an external disk is added to the sources, it is visible even if the external disk is not connected
  • improvement: trash shows if items were deleted
  • bug fixed: no error anymore when restoring the iBackup settings
  • bug fixed: check for new iBackup version and check for new plugins fixed
  • bug fixed: delete backup folders on an external disk doesn’t take hours anymore
  • bug fixed: process canceled and destination not mounted will be shown as ‘error: 1’ in the log and mail
  • bug fixed: if more than one backup or restore takes place the same day, the action text of each is added to the log file

Version 6.3:

  • improvement: profile settings menu integrated ionto preferences menu
  • improvement: new UNIX command tab for profile settings menu, a column for each OS X release; 10.3, 10.4 and 10.5
  • improvement: reduced the size of iBackup by compressing icons and images and removing unused images
  • improvement: icons updated
  • improvement: help updated
  • improvement: restore profile moved below the separator

Version 6.2:

  • improvement: when iBackup’s settings are restored but a new usernmane is chosen, the sources are correctly updated
  • improvement: allows selecting all items (smart folder) for restore profile
  • improvement: new icons (512px) optimized for 10.5 – many thanks to s.

Version 6.1.1:

  • bug fixed: the UNIX ls command has been changed in 10.5: the -f option turns on the -a option, which leads iBackup to backup also . and .. files

Version 6.1:

  • improvement: iBackup updates the size of a profile after it has been proceeded also in the mainwindow
  • improvement: replace the rsync attribute ‘-av’ with ‘-avE’, iBackup will automatically remove the ‘-E’ attribute for 10.3.9 users

Version 6.0

  • improvement: crontab introduced, iBackup will start automatically for scheduled backups

  • improvement: iBackup detects if an error occurs while loading the profiles and reset them
  • improvement: Mail.app not required for sending mails for bug reporting
