Software update: GSpot 2.51 beta 2

GSpot has been updated to version 2.51 beta 2. This program can analyze avi, mpeg, and vob files, including what audio and video codecs have been used and whether they are on the system, bitrate and frames per second, and much more. In addition, it can also provide an overview of all codecs installed on the system. The changelog for this release looks like this:

  • Fixed GUI resize issue with H.264 indicator.
  • Fixed resource leak associated w GSpot render.
  • Fixed attempt to analyze split audio with no audio present, which corrupted some other values ​​& could result in an app crash later.
  • Rewrote the MPEG-2 parsing routines for the interlace & pull-down functions. The previous version had significant design flaws, causing it to display erroneous results.
  • Added native recognition of H.264 video streams and an associated “indicator light”. Should recognize H.264 in an AVI (eg VideoSoft), in an MPEG-2 Program Stream (eg MainConcept), or raw (eg ITU reference encoder)
  • “open with” and drag ‘n drop should work on Win98 again
