Growl is a handy program for the Mac OS X platform that manages the notifications of other programs can be displayed on the screen. For example, the aMSN program can display a small pop-up when someone comes online and the YMail program displays a pop-up informing you that new mail has arrived. The developers have released version 0.7.4 with the following changes:

Growl 0.7.4 has been released! This release provides support for Intel based Apple Computers via a Universal Binary. Application developers, please verify that the updated framework works in your application on all platforms you intend to support before shipping the next framework with your application.

Version 0.7.4:

  • Preference Pane: Made Growl and all Extras into Universal Binaries
  • Extras: Made all Extras Universal Binaries
  • Scripts: Deprecated XChat script in favor of native support in X-Chat Aqua. Script still ships for XChat X11 users, but is no longer supported.
  • Framework: Frameworks updated to support Universal Binary. Note that previous frameworks will still work, and have been tested to work. Applications will need to be restarted once Growl is started for everything to work though. (as per reports) Please report any problems ASAP to the discussion list on the contact page.
