Martin Sturm told us that there is a new Linux distribution called Gentoo. Gentoo has quite a revolutionary package management system. Much like FreeBSD Ports, it is possible to have the whole system compiled with all the optimizations for your system, without the required knowledge. Gentoo 1.0 is based on a 2.4.18 kernel and includes a lot of new software. Below is a quote from the gentoo page. The change log is here to find.
