Software Update: FreeKiSS 0.4

A new version of FreeKiSS has been available for download on Source Forge since a few days. This open source program is intended for DVD/DivX players with a network option, such as the KiSS DP-50x and DP-150x models, for example, and can stream audio and video files to the player. More information about this program can be found in the KiSS DivX players topic on our GoT. Version 0.4 ships with the following changelog:

Added:

  • FreeKiSS client, a program to connect to PC-Link servers on your network
  • Imagecaching: resized/converted images are kept in cache for 5 minutes
  • Enable serving of local files (without a http:// prefix)
  • Disconnect player from within “Connected Players” tab
  • Remember window position and size between sessions

Fixed:

  • Searching for servers works again (firmware 2.9.1)
  • Merge checkbox problem fixed
  • Improved stability (Closing while still streaming a file)
  • Window wasn’t showed properly on systems with a DPI set to 120
  • Included the required MSVCR71.DLL library
  • Check for updates when a check was already in progress is fixed
  • “Allow only specified adresses” setting didn’t wait for Apply to be pressed
  • Return correct size for huge files
  • Special characters are now allowed in the KML Link list

Changed:

  • Added 127.0.0.1 (localhost) to the allowed local hosts
  • Improved “Connected Players” tab
  • Improved Image Resizing
  • Send files in a more memory-friendly manner
