Spread the love

The FastLynx program has recently released a version 3.3 This allows you to easily exchange files between two computers, support for connections via TCP/IP or Named Pipes connections, USB, serial and parallel ports is available. The program currently only runs on a win32 environment, but there are so-called ‘slaves’ available for DOS and Linux environments. The release notes tell us the following:

FastLynx 3.3 now supports transfers between Windows and Linux! Support for fast USB transfers was added in version 3.2. USB transfer is supported on Windows 98, ME, 2000, and XP. Transfer files at up to 900,000 bytes per second! That is about 9 times faster than parallel transfer and about 45 times faster than serial transfer. The 3-meter FastLynx USB bridge cable and the updated FastLynx 3.3 software is all you need to get started with USB transfer

New features:

Compared to version 3.2, the main new feature in FastLynx 3.3 is support for Windows-to-Linux or Linux-to-Windows transfers over either a serial or parallel port. An additional new feature is a more advanced scripting capability to automate file transfer tasks.

Compared to version 3.1, the main new feature in FastLynx 3.2 is support for fast USB transfers. An additional new feature is the ability to use on-the-fly data encryption (using AES encryption) to keep your file transfer traffic secure from network snooping.

Compared to version 3.0, version 3.1 added support for parallel transfer, and accelerated serial transfer, on Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Windows XP, and a number of minor user interface improvements.
