Software update: ecto 2.2.7

Spread the love

Recently, version 2.2.7 of ecto is ready to be downloaded for the Mac OS X platform. This program is fully equipped to perform desktop blogging. Support for various blogging services is provided, such as Blogger, Blojsom, Drupal, MovableType, Nucleus, TypePad, and WordPress. So you can use this to write your blog offline and then upload it in one go when you are online. The program has a number of useful features on board and has a clear interface† The release notes look like this:

Version 2.2.7

My sincere apologies for the sudden frequent release of bug fixes. ecto went from 2.2.5 to 2.2.7 in just 5 days. Version 2.2.6 fixed a mistake that slipped into 2.2.5 when I added better support for primary categories. Then there was a possible issue with timezones. I could easily wait a few weeks and then release a new version, but I just hate having bugs in the app. If a user finds a serious bug, I really want to fix it as soon as possible. Usually, I release minor fixes as a latest build (see sidebar), but the issues with primary categories and timezones warranted a full release. Either way, there should not be another new version for a month now.

Version 2.2.5

This new release fixes a serious problem users were having when editing a previously saved draft with attachments. In rich text mode, those attachments would not be uploaded. This has been fix and I’d like to offer my apologies for the inconveniences caused.

The other changes include a much better method to select a primary category (for MovableType API compatible blogs). Previously, the category that was checked AND selected in the category list would be the primary category. That was very obscure, obviously. ecto now sports a “Make primary” button and displays primary categories in bold.

There is, however, one minor issue with the new version. I have been preparing ecto for the new coming icons by Neil Dixon The side-effect is that if you open a draft window for the first time, the toolbar will have no icons. To fix this, simply select Window→Customize Toolbar… from the menubar. The toolbar customization sheet will slide open. From that sheet, drag the default set to the toolbar.
