Software update: Directory Opus 12.33

Spread the love

GPSoftware has released version 12.33 of its file manager Directory Opus. This program is in a way comparable with Total Commander, but with more extensive options about exactly what information should be displayed and how. Directory Opus is versatile and extremely configurable, both in terms of functionality and appearance. That is also the biggest problem, because the program can seem complex, especially to novice users.

The program can 60 days being tested; after that, a license must be purchased for 89 Australian dollars, which amounts to approximately 55 euros. Since version 10.2 there is also one less extensive version, for the equivalent of 30 euros. The changelog for this release shows the following list of changes and improvements:

The following change is new for 12.33:

  • Updated LibWebP to fix security vulnerability.

The following changes were part of the 12.32.1 beta update:

  • Drag & drops from XNViewMP should now work.
  • Fixed PDF metadata not roundtripping correctly for strings containing certain characters.
  • Fixed PDF metadata not handling UTF-16 encoded as ASCII hex bytes.
  • Fixed problem decoding some JPEG images which could leave pink dots on the left-hand column.
  • If a blocked preview handler (eg PowerToys PDF) is encountered, Opus will now check for common alternatives to use instead, rather than failing to show the file. (The same as it does if no preview handler is found at all. So enabling the PDF preview handler within PowerToys will no longer prevent Opus from viewing PDFs, as long as one of the known alternatives is available.)
  • Updated RAR and 7Z DLLs.
  • Fixed crash when using FAYT to trigger Windows Search from a locked folder tab.
