Software Update: Daisy 2.2

Daisy checks whether all necessary hotfixes are installed on a Windows 2000 or Windows XP computer. The software checks which programs are on the system and which critical updates have been applied. For example, Internet Explorer, SQL Server and Windows Media Player are checked. The latest version of Daisy is numbered 2.2 and can be downloaded by this form to fill in. Below are the changes from version 1.5 posted:

What’s new from version 1.5?

• Now uses hfnetchk as its hotfix detection engine instead of registry querying
• Detects and hotfixes over 25 Microsoft titles
• Robust handling of interrupted downloads (especially for modem users)
• Does MD5 checksumming to ensure accurate hotfix downloads
• Graphical UI to show progress or hotfix download
• Better output and reporting of Daisy’s run
• Detects out of date versions of Daisy
• Now uses passive FTP for downloads
• Many more command line options to localize install

What’s new from version 2.0?

• Added additional logic to skip ill-formed hotfixes (ignoreQs.txt)
• Fixed cases where silent execution would still popup an interactive window and hang

What’s new from version 2.1?

• New command line switch (-p). Show user Daisy progress, but install hotfixes without interaction
• New command line switch (-c). Tell’s Daisy to ignore mssecure.xml checksums. IMPORTANT option for flaky hotfixes like MS04-011 which don’t have correct checksums for the kernel32.dll. Shavlik decided not to include either checksum, so Daisy would always flag it as failing to be installed!
• New function where you can create a ‘customqs.txt’ file in the same directory as the daisy.exe. If found, Daisy will use this CR/LF delimited file instead of the dynamically created ‘ignoreqs.txt’ to decide wether to ignore an installable hotfix or not
• *bugfix* Now correctly parses .cls files with multiple periods in the filename
• *bugfix* Cleaned up test dialog overrun with large filenames in watch.exe
• Updated libeay32.dll and ssleay32.dll to version .97c
• Updated wget.exe to version 1.9.1b
