Download Blender 2.47 RC1
Blender Foundation is busy developing Blender, an open source software package for 3D modeling, animation, rendering, post-production, interactive creation and playback. The many features, exaggerated with screenshots and examples, are exhausted this page for interested readers to read. Blender was used by the Orange Movie Project for the animation Elephant’s Dream released under the creative commons license.
The developers have been busy over the past few months smoothing out the source code, thanks in part to the Peach Movie Project and the upcoming Apricot Game Project, leading to the first release release candidate of Blender 2.47. The corresponding preliminary announcement is as follows:
Blender 2.47
The work of the past half year – also thanks to the open movie project “Big Buck Bunny” – has resulted in a greatly improved feature set, now released as Blender 2.46, the “Bunny release”!
For Blender 2.47, scheduled early August, we want to include the essential bug fixes, but also a couple of goodies:
- Better snapping tools
- sky rendering?
- Some of the Apricot Blender GE fixes, better logic, animation support?
Apricot branch
Not in 2.47, still in development, but definitely worth checking out: thanks to the Apricot Open Game project we now have better tools for integrating Blender in a 3d game creation environment. See the details of that on the Apricot project blog. Information on real-time GLSL materials is available.
