Software Update: 7-Zip 9.06 Beta

The developers of 7-Zip have now released another beta release of their eponymous archiving program after a one-off alpha foray. 7-Zip can handle a variety of compression formats, including zip, cab, rar, arj, lzh, chm, gzip, bzip2, z, tar, cpio, rpm, deb, and of course the proprietary 7z. Furthermore, the software is capable of opening iso files and Nsis installation packages. Version 9.06 beta ships with the exact same changelog as 9.05 alpha:

What’s new after 7-zip 9.04 beta:

  • 7-Zip now can unpack MSLZ archives.
  • Partial parsing for EXE resources, SWF and FLV.
  • Some bugs were fixed.
  • Some changes in interface.
