Software Update: 7-Zip 16.01

Version 16.01 of 7-Zip has been released, as a successor to version 15.14. This open source archiver can handle a wide range of compression formats, including zip, cab, rar, arj, lzh, chm, gzip, bzip2, z, tar, cpio, rpm, deb and of course the proprietary 7z. Furthermore, the software is able to open iso files and nsis installation packages. This release fixes some minor issues and makes improvements to improve compatibility with the Visual Studio 2015 C++ compiler.

What’s new after 7-Zip 16.00:

• The bugs in SWM (WIM), EXE (PE) and CHM code were fixed.
• Also there are some internal changes in source code for better compatibility with VS2015 C++ compiler. There were some warnings with that compiler. But 7-Zip 16.01 binaries were compiled with old compilers. There is no any speed gain with new compiler in my tests. So I still test that new compiler.
