Star Citizen’s single player campaign, called Squadron 42, will be released in 2020 according to the developer. This is evident from a schedule with the schedule for Squadron 42 that developer Cloud Imperium Games has published.

The Squadron 42 beta is scheduled to be released in the second half of 2020. The optimizations in the context of the alpha version will be implemented according to the schedule in the first half of 2020. If this schedule is adhered to, the developer will have finished the content by the end of 2019; it is still 28 different chapters. This schedule means that Squadron 42 is coming out with years of delay; this story portion of Star Citizen was originally scheduled to be released in 2016, after which it was delayed again to 2017.

Chris Roberts, the founder of the now long-running space simulation game project Star Citizen, also revealed that his company recently received a $46 million private investment from billionaire Cliver Calder and his son. Roberts seems to be suggesting that this entire investment will be used for marketing purposes. According to Roberts, this investment allows the developer to remain independent. More than 500 employees worldwide are working on the game.

In exchange for the $46 million, investors will receive a ten percent stake in Cloud Imperium Games and multiple board positions. Roberts emphasizes that he is still firmly in control, as he is still chairman, CEO and majority shareholder.

According to the company behind the game, a tight $ 212 million has been raised for Star Citizen through crowdfunding. This does not include the investment of 46 million. Part of the game’s popularity is due to the fact that Roberts is in charge of the game’s development. He worked on games like Freelancer and the Wing Commander games. Alpha version 3.4 of Star Citizen has now been released.
