Sharp reaches multi-million dollar settlement with Dell
Sharp has reached a settlement with Dell and allegedly two other companies that had filed a lawsuit over alleged price-fixing over TFT LCDs. The Japanese electronics company pays a total of $ 198.5 million.
Japanese electronics company Sharp has reached an out-of-court settlement with Dell and two other companies. It’s not yet clear who those other companies are and what the lawsuit was about, but it’s highly likely it has something to do with the allegation that Sharp entered into price-fixing deals with Toshiba, Samsung, LG and CPT over TFT LCDs.
Last week, Toshiba was already found guilty in America of making illegal price fixing between 1999 and 2006. Sharp and Samsung have reached a settlement in the same lawsuit. Sharp and LG admitted in 2008 that they kept the price of TFT LCDs artificially high between 2001 and 2006.
