The Share menu in Windows 11 will suggest apps for users to install. Microsoft has announced this. It is unclear how Microsoft decides to place a particular app there.

In the latest Insiders preview of Windows 11, 22635.2850, it says WhatsApp, so says Microsoft. “In the long term, we also want to test this experience with other apps,” the company said. According to the company, clicking on it leads to the option to install WhatsApp from the Store. Subsequently, sharing to WhatsApp is of course only possible after setting it up.

Microsoft does not mention a reason for adding the feature. It seems to want to make the Share menu more useful and popular in the long term with the feature. It is still unknown if and when the feature will be available in the stable version of Windows 11. In the Store, Microsoft has made it possible to install apps without first having to click on the app’s page. If users come across the app while browsing, it can be installed directly from there.
