Screenshots seem to show that Windows Notepad will get AI feature

Snippets of code and screenshots have emerged that indicate the Windows app Notepad will get an AI feature. It would be called Cowriter and could, among other things, supplement texts. It is unknown when the feature will be released.

The name Cowriter is evident from the screenshots PhantomOcean3 and Tero Alhonen have shared. References to the feature can already be found in Notepad’s folder and the screenshots show, among other things, a marketing render and a screenshot of what it looks like in practice. The code points out, among other things, that users must have ‘credits’ to use the function.

The feature can complete texts according to various requirements based on user input in Notepad. This allows users to, among other things, make texts longer or shorter or change their tone. Like other Copilot features, this is probably based on OpenAI’s GPT language models. It is unknown when Microsoft plans to announce the feature. Last year Cocreator was released in Paint.
