Samsung is not abandoning the Tizen-os in terms of its televisions. Speculation about this spread after that company and Google announced that Tizen for smartwatches will be merged with Wear OS.

A spokesperson talks about the choice over Protocol, a sister company of Politico. “Tizen is still the standard platform for our TVs in the future,” said the spokesperson. Samsung has incorporated its Linux-based OS into its televisions since 2015 and does not offer models with Android TV. It stopped Tizen releases on smartphones in 2017, with the Samsung Z4 as the last device.

Samsung and Google announced on May 18 that they would merge their smartwatch operating systems under the name Wear. The companies want to create a larger ecosystem for wearables and Fitbit, which has recently become part of Google, will also use the new OS. More details about this new ox, which should be released this fall, will follow later.
