Samsung: foldable smartphones sell better than Note in Europe, not worldwide
Samsung’s foldable smartphones are now selling better than the Galaxy Note series did when it existed. That’s what the manufacturer said at IFA. Globally, the Galaxy Z series has not yet overtaken the Note series, although that is the goal.
Samsung said its Galaxy Z phones are selling better per year than Note devices did when they were around, reports Android Police. Between 2011 and 2020, one or more Galaxy Note models were released every year, equipped with an S-Pen. Since 2022, the S-Pen has been in the Ultra variant of the S series, such as the S22 Ultra and S23 Ulta. The Z Fold phones also support the S-Pen, although it does not fit in the housing of those devices.
The manufacturer did not mention specific sales numbers. The Galaxy Note phones were bigger and more expensive than the Galaxy S phones every year, while Samsung seemed to highlight them less with marketing. As a result, they were considered devices for power users. Samsung aims for foldable smartphones, which have taken over the spot as the most expensive smartphones in Samsung’s lineup, to surpass the Note’s sales, but Samsung isn’t claiming it has succeeded yet. Samsung has been selling foldable smartphones since 2019, when the first Fold was released. The manufacturer confirmed last year that there would be no more new Notes.
