Samsung will bring functions from the Z Fold5, Z Flip5 and Watch6 to older models with an update. The update will be released for the Fold2 and newer, all Flip models and the Watch4 and newer, the manufacturer says.

The update will first be released for last year’s models, says Samsung. The Fold4 and Flip4 will receive the update next month. Older models will follow afterwards. The first Flip and the Fold2 are both from 2020. Of the foldable smartphones, only the first Fold from 2019 will not receive the update. This concerns One UI 5.1.1. Smartwatches include the Watch4 from 2021. That was the first with Wear OS.

The update makes it possible for the Fold to open a browser in a pop-up from the taskbar while watching the video. It will also be possible to multitask with two hands by dragging a photo with one hand and using the other to click on an icon of the app on the taskbar where that photo should go. In addition, it becomes possible to turn a pop-up window into a window that occupies a fixed part of the screen.

The Flip gets more customization features from Flex mode, where users use the phone half-open. The Watch4 and Watch5 get more functions for analyzing sleep and more watch faces.
