Samsung announces which devices will receive Android 7.0 before the summer

Samsung has announced which smartphones and tablets will receive the update to Android Nougat in the first half of 2017. This includes the entire Galaxy S6 series, the Galaxy Note 5 and some tablets.

This mainly concerns devices from 2015 and 2016. There are currently no smartphones and tablets that appeared in 2014 on the list. Samsung uses a software support of two years and after that, users in principle no longer have to rely on updates.

In addition to the high-end devices, Samsung calls a Galaxy A3. This is presumably the 2017 model, which will appear next month with Android 6.0.1 on board. Samsung does not mention the A5. Presumably it expects better sales from the smaller model and therefore makes the update for this phone first. The South Korean smartphone maker recently started offering the update for the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge.

The manufacturer says that it is a list of devices that will receive the update before the end of June. It cannot be ruled out that Samsung will make updates for more devices at a later stage. The chance that this concerns former high-end models such as the Galaxy S5 series or Note 4 is small, because they are already three years old.
