World War Z will receive monthly updates based on a seasonal schedule. In the first season, which lasts from May to July, the game will get new missions, weapons and weekly game modes.

The first addition comes as early as May, with a new mission in Tokyo and a spitting zombie that can heal itself. In June, the game will receive cosmetic extras such as weapons and skins and a new difficulty setting will be introduced. When players complete the game on that difficulty, they receive a special reward. In July, the game will be getting a ‘Weekly Challenge Mode’ along with more cosmetic extras.

Saber Interactive indicates that more updates will follow. The developer adds a horde mode, private lobbies and sliders to adjust the field of view and level of detail, among other things. In addition, there will be the possibility to switch classes and new weapons and accessories for characters will also appear.

World War Z was released on April 16 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. In its first week, it sold some 320,000 copies through the Epic Store, according to Epic. Including Xbox One and PS4 sales, Saber Interactive sold one million copies in its first week. In the zombie survival game, inspired by the 2013 film of the same name, players are tasked with completing missions from Tokyo to Moscow in co-op.
