Rumor: Samsung Galaxy S24 gets Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 soc in US, but not in EU

A new benchmark listing of the American version of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus indicates that the smartphone in the US will be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 soc. In Europe, on the other hand, the phone will reportedly get an Exynos 2400 chip.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus has been tested in Geekbench 6 with Android 14 and 8GB of RAM. The listing shows that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC achieves a single-core score of 2231 and a multi-core score of 6661. Those scores are approximately ten and twenty percent higher than those of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, respectively. writes Notebookcheck.

Just like the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC has not yet been officially announced. According to rumors, the chip will have four CPU clusters in a 1+3+2+2 configuration. Based on the benchmark information, this concerns a Cortex ,27GHz. The SoC would also be equipped with an Adreno 750 GPU, although no specifications are known about this yet. The chip will be officially unveiled on October 24.

However, it appears that the European version of the Samsung Galaxy S24 will not be equipped with a Snapdragon SoC. It was previously rumored in South Korean media that the smartphone models here will receive an Exynos 2400 chip, and also known leaker Ice Universe says with full conviction that the S24 phones in Europe will receive this SoC. The Exynos 2400 has a total of ten cores, of which a Cortex X4 is the primary. The 2400 also has five Cortex-A720 cores, two of which have a high and three a low clock speed of 3.6GHz and 3.3GHz respectively. Furthermore, there are four Cortex A520 cores on the device that are intended for tasks that consume little energy. This SoC also reportedly contains an RDNA 2 GPU called the Xclipse X940 with a maximum clock speed of 2GHz.
