Rumor: AMD is working on Ryzen 7 5700X3D and Ryzen 5 5500X3D CPUs with 3D V-Cache
AMD may be working on two new, cheaper Ryzen 5000X3D processors for the AM4 platform. A leaker states that the CPU maker will come with a Ryzen 7 5700X3D and a Ryzen 5 5500X3D. It is not known when the alleged chips will be released.
According to leaker chi11eddog, which often shares correct information about upcoming products, the Ryzen 7 5700X3D will have eight Zen 3 cores and sixteen threads. The Ryzen 5 variant is said to have six cores and twelve threads. Both chips should have 96MB L3 cache. These probably concern cheaper versions of the existing Ryzen 7 5800X3D and Ryzen 5 5600X3D. They have the same specifications, but have higher clock speeds.
It is not known when the alleged chips will be released or how they will become available. The Ryzen 7 5800X3D has been widely available for a few years now. Earlier this year, AMD introduced its Ryzen 5 5600X3D, although it is only available from MicroCenter in the United States. It is not known whether the new processors will become generally available.
AMD has been introducing X3D processors for some time now. These chips are largely the same as their non-X3D counterparts, but have extra L3 cache that is stacked on top of the regular CPU die. Each CPU can therefore receive up to 64MB of additional L3 cache, in addition to the amount of cache that is already included in the CPU as standard. AMD has also released Ryzen 7000X3D CPUs for socket AM5 and also introduced its first X3D laptop chip earlier this year.
