Rockstar veteran Mike Unsworth leaves studio after sixteen years

Mike Unsworth, the vice president of writing at Rockstar Games, has left the studio. This is evident from his LinkedIn profile. Unsworth has worked at Rockstar since 2007 and has worked on several GTA games and the Red Dead Redemption games, among others.

Michael Unsworth’s LinkedIn profile states that he is Rockstar left this year, GTAForums user Rucke noted. “Mike is an experienced writer who spent more than 16 years at Rockstar Games as a creative leader,” his profile now reads. The writer gives no reason for his departure, also writes GameSpot. It is also unknown what Unsworth will do after his departure.

Unsworth started as a senior creative writer at Rockstar Games in 2007. In 2019 he became writing director and in 2021 he became vice president of writing. Unsworth worked on several Rockstar titles, including GTA 4, 5 and Chinatown Wars. He also co-wrote LA Noire, Max Payne 3 and Red Dead Redemption. His most recent project was 2019’s Red Dead Redemption 2, where he mentioned in the credits as one of three writers, together with Dan Houser, who previously left Rockstar. It is not known whether Unsworth has worked on GTA 6 in the meantime.
