Epic Games, the company behind the highly successful Fortnite, has recruited Jason West. West is a founding member of the Call of Duty studio Infinity Ward and later co-founded Respawn Entertainment.
The Canadian game journalist Geoff Keighly reports on Twitter that Jason West quietly joined Epic Games, where he would start working on his own game development projects. Keighly says he learned that West has been part of Epic Games for about a month now.
PC Gamer reports that an Epic Games representative has confirmed West’s signing, but declined to comment on the specific role West will play within Epic Games. The rep said only that West “contributes to Epic’s development efforts.”
West co-founded Infinity Ward in 2002 with Vince Zampella and Grant Collier. West had a major role in the first two Call of Duty games, Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2. Zampella and West were fired in 2010, and that year jointly founded Respawn Entertainment, the EA studio responsible for the Titanfall franchise. games and the very popular Apex Legends. He left there again in 2013.
