The Raspberry Pi Foundation has announced the TV HAT, an add-on board with a dvb-t2 connection. The TV expansion is based on a new Hardware Attached on Top form factor for add-ons.

The Raspberry TV HAT makes it possible to receive and watch TV on a Raspberry Pi or use it as a server to stream TV to other devices, according to the foundation. This concerns dvb-t2 streams. The add-on must be connected to the 40-pin gpio header on a Raspberry Pi, with the maker recommending a Pi 2, 3 or 3B+. The price is 19.95 euros.

The TV HAT is the size of a Raspberry Pi Zero. It is the first in a series with the new HAT form factor. There are three screw holes: the fourth has been omitted so that the HAT can be connected to a Raspberry Pi without interfering with the display connector.
