Rabobank allows customers to transfer money via the recipient’s 06 number

Rabobank allows customers to transfer money to other customers based on their telephone number. With 06-Payments, customers do not need to receive an account number from a recipient. For the time being, this is only possible with transfers to other Rabobank customers.

Users can activate the function in the Rabo App, the bank says. Customers must activate this function by first providing their 06 number and entering an SMS code for confirmation. Also someone who wants to receive money must first verify his telephone number in this way. Users must then link their bank account to that phone number. In this way, the bank verifies with each transfer whether the number matches the name provided by a sender.

The function works in the Rabo App. For the time being, this only applies to Rabobank customers among themselves. It is also not yet active with a business account. Shared account users can also use the feature; it is then possible to link several numbers to an IBAN.
