Providers push through GTX 1080 price cuts

The price reduction announced on Wednesday can already be seen on Friday in the amounts that providers of the Nvidia GTX 1080 ask for the cards. Prices fall by percentages ranging from 9 to 20 percent.

More than half of the list of video cards that have fallen in price in the Pricewatch is now taken up by GTX 1080 cards. The strongest decrease is 129 euros, but most GTX 1080 models drop in price by less than 100 euros.

It is striking that there are only six GTX 1070 cards in the list, with modest price drops. Although Nvidia did not announce an official price cut for this card on Wednesday, in practice the prices of the GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 are now very close to each other, while the performance differences are significant.

Nvidia announced Wednesday that it would lower the suggested retail prices of the GTX 1080 by $100, ahead of the arrival of the GTX 1080 Ti next week.
