Print screen key in Windows 11 build now opens Snipping Tool by default
Microsoft is changing the functionality of the print screen key in Windows 11 so that it automatically opens the Snipping Tool. The change, KB5025310, is included in a beta build of Windows 11 and can be reversed via the settings menu.
Users who press the print screen key in the beta build will immediately see the updated Snipping Tool in Windows 11. writes Microsoft. That tool is a combination of the Snipping and Notes program and the old Snipping Tool that is also included in older Windows versions. To regain the old function of the print screen button, users can change the function of the button via the accessibility settings. The old function took a screenshot and saved it to the clipboard.
The change to the default function of the print screen key is not the only change Microsoft has made in the beta build. The maximum number of tabs that can be opened with alt+tab is set to twenty by default. According to Microsoft, this is intended to reduce performance problems. This can also be adjusted via the settings menu. Another change is that according to Microsoft, searching for settings via the start menu should be faster.
