A photo has surfaced of what could be an AMD Phoenix 2 APU. Notes from X/Twitter users would show that this new AMD APU has a hybrid chip design, as previous rumors suggested.

In the picture, posted on X/Twitter, There are reportedly two ‘normal’ Zen 4 computing cores, but also four more efficient Zen 4c cores. The latter are optimized computing cores with a lower clock speed, less power consumption and a smaller size.

AMD confirmed in July this year the existence of a new Phoenix APU with six cores, but the company did not yet say that it was a chip with hybrid architecture. Earlier this year, AMD documents were also leaked mentioning the new Phoenix APUs. It could be deduced from this that the chipset would have ‘normal’ and ‘more efficient’ computing cores.

If the Phoenix 2 APU has a hybrid architecture, AMD is following in the footsteps of its competitor Intel. It introduced its Alder Lake chips in 2021, which also have ‘normal’ and ‘more efficient’ computing cores.
