PC Game Pass subscribers will soon be able to play select games via GeForce NOW
Microsoft PC Game Pass subscribers will soon be able to link their subscription to Nvidia GeForce NOW, allowing them to stream ‘part of’ the PC Game Pass collection via Nvidia’s service. According to Xbox, the feature will be available in the coming months.
Xbox leaves in one blog post know that a number of games from the PC Game Pass catalog will be available for Nvidia’s GeForce NOW. It doesn’t look like this will be the complete catalogue. Previously, players had to purchase Microsoft PC games separately to play them via GeForce Now. GeForce NOW offers RTX 4080 performance levels for the most expensive subscription in some cases, which is not achieved with Microsoft’s own Xbox Cloud Gaming service.
Microsoft closed one earlier this year ten-year agreement with Nvidia to license Xbox PC games for GeForce Now. The deal was part of a broader effort to appease regulators over the proposed Activision Blizzard deal. A British regulator previously blocked that deal.
GeForce NOW can be used on Windows, Mac, Google Chromebrooks, smartphones and televisions with Android TV. The cheapest subscription is free and offers a gaming session of up to one hour. For 10 euros per month, users can game for six hours straight at a resolution of 1080p and a maximum frame rate of 60fps. Microsoft’s Game Pass subscription costs 10 euros per month.
