CD Projekt RED has updated the system requirements for Cyberpunk 2077 to “make it easy to estimate expected performance.” In addition to increased minimum and recommended system requirements, recommendations for the ultra and ray tracing presets are also listed.

The system requirements will be slightly higher by default than before, according to the developer to ‘better reflect the minimum PC configuration to play the game at 1080p with an average frame rate of 30fps on the lowest preset’. CD Projekt RED states that, among other things, hard drives are no longer supported. The developer also no longer tests the game on systems that only meet the old system requirements; The company no longer provides support for these systems. The new requirements will apply from the next major update to the game, which would not be released until 90 days at the earliest.

New features from future updates also play a role in increasing the requirements, according to the developer. Cyberpunk 2077 will receive its first DLC package, Phantom Liberty, in September, to which the new system requirements of course also apply.

The new requirements require a system with at least an Intel Core i7-6700 or AMD Ryzen 5 1600 and a GeForce RTX 1060 with 6GB of VRAM or Radeon RX 580 with 8GB of VRAM. With such a PC setup, gamers can expect 30fps at 1080p resolution. So far, the system requirements for the sci-fi RPG have remained unchanged since release; an Intel Core i5-3570K or AMD FX-8310 and a GeForce GTX 780 3GB or Radeon RX 470 would suffice.

The Polish developer now also mentions the relevant resolution and frame rate at the various steps in the system requirements. The maximum requirements for Cyberpunk 2077 in a 4k resolution and with the special RT Overdrive mode at 60fps are an RTX 4080 GPU and 24GB of RAM. DLSS Frame Generation was used to determine this graphics preset, a function that is only available with DLSS 3 on RTX 40 series video cards.
