Apple has received a patent for operating head mounted displays with a ‘digital crown’. That control element is on the Vision Pro headset, but can also be on smart glasses, Apple says.

It patentabout what 9to5Mac published, shows how the ‘digital crown’ works on smart glasses. For example, users could swipe over them to switch between interface elements in the glasses. That would be an additional way to operate it, in addition to turning the digital crown as you can on the Apple Watch and the Vision Pro.

There have been rumors for some time about smart glasses that will eventually complement the VR headset that Apple will release early next year. It is still unknown whether this will work: many tech companies have tried to build such technology, but so far they have not really succeeded. The only smart glasses out there have limited functionality.
